Highlands Ranch HVAC Service, Explained Before You Pay

Furnace and AC repair plus heating, AC, heat pump, mini-split and boiler installs for Highlands Ranch homes, with the diagnostic fee posted before we arrive.

Summit Heating, A/C, Plumbing & Electrical repairs, installs and replaces furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and boilers for homeowners across Highlands Ranch, including BackCountry and the streets off West Highlands Ranch Parkway. If your furnace quits on a January night or you’re comparing replacement quotes, you get a posted fee, a technician who explains what they find, and an estimate you can approve on the spot or later from a link. Google reviewers rate us 4.7 from 432 reviews (as of Nov 4, 2026).

How a Summit HVAC Visit Works

1. Diagnosis

Your technician runs the HVAC diagnostic ($99.95) and shows you what failed and why.

2. Options

You hear the repair option first when the repair is real. If replacement makes more sense, you see why, in writing.

3. Estimate

Your technician reviews the estimate with you. Approve it then, or later from the link once you've had time to think or compare.

4. Permit

If the job needs a Douglas County permit, we pull it as your contractor.

5. Work and cleanup

We do the work, test it, and clean up before we leave.

You call (720) 870-1580 or request service online, and we book a time within our hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 3pm. After hours: our answering service takes your call and we call back the next business day.

Repair comes first wherever it holds up. Existing R-410A systems can legally be repaired. EPA rules affect new equipment, so an older AC that only needs a part doesn’t have to be replaced because of its refrigerant.

HVAC Services for Highlands Ranch Homes

We work on single-family homes, and we replace (but don’t repair) commercial HVAC.

Hot-water boilers, repair first where the boiler is sound.

Ductless mini-splits

Installs for rooms the existing system doesn't reach, with no new ductwork, plus mini-split repair.

Humidifiers

Whole-home humidifiers for dry winter air.

We don’t build or replace ductwork, clean ducts, or take on new construction, and we’ll say so before you pay for a visit.

HVAC Financing, Memberships and Rebates

HVAC diagnostic: $99.95. Your technician reviews the estimate with you. You can approve it on the spot or later through a link to the estimate.

Financing is available through Service Finance Company, LLC, subject to credit approval. See terms when you apply. Ask about our maintenance memberships.

Xcel rebates may apply. We confirm current amounts with your quote. Xcel rebates apply to Xcel customers only; some addresses south and west of Denver are served by IREA. Xcel’s central AC rebates ended for invoices dated after Jan 1, 2024, and the federal 25C credit does not apply to equipment placed in service after 2025. Programs change without notice. Eligibility is confirmed at quote. Checked Nov 2026.

Equipment Rules That Affect a Highlands Ranch HVAC Replacement

  • Efficiency minimums: Colorado sits in the federal North region. Split AC systems must reach 13.4 SEER2; split heat pumps 14.3 SEER2 and 7.5 HSPF2. We show you the minimum next to higher-efficiency options so you can compare.
  • Low-NOx furnaces: New gas furnaces and water heaters sold in Colorado since Jan 1, 2026 must meet ultra-low-NOx limits (or be ENERGY STAR). Repairs to your existing furnace are not affected.
  • New refrigerants: Most new residential equipment now uses R-454B or R-32, which are A2L refrigerants.
  • Altitude: Gas furnaces are set up to the manufacturer’s high-altitude instructions, model by model.

Douglas County Permits and Codes for HVAC Work in Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch is an unincorporated community, so HVAC permits come from the Douglas County Building Division at 100 Third Street in Castle Rock, not from a city hall. The county’s mechanical permit covers the replacement or addition of a furnace, water heater, air conditioner or gas line. Switching a home from gas to electric heat, or electric to gas, needs extra documentation and a plan review, filed in person, by fax or by mail rather than online. (Douglas County Building Division, checked Nov 2026.)

The county moved to the 2024 ICC codes on July 1, 2026, and its newer National Electrical Code takes effect January 1, 2027, so for now electrical work is still inspected under the 2023 NEC. The City of Littleton next door is already on the 2026 NEC. Under the 2023 NEC, new outdoor AC and heat pump equipment needs code-required GFCI protection since Sept 1, 2026, and we wire it that way. (Checked Nov 2026.)

Homes in BackCountry near Mountain Vista High School, near Cougar Run Park off South University Boulevard, and near Daniels Gate Park in 80130 all go through the same county office.

HVAC Questions from Highlands Ranch Homeowners

The HVAC diagnostic is $99.95. Your technician finds the cause, then reviews the repair estimate with you. You can approve the repair on the spot or later through a link to the estimate.
Yes. Highlands Ranch is unincorporated Douglas County, and the Douglas County Building Division’s mechanical permit covers replacing a furnace, water heater, air conditioner or gas line. As your contractor, we pull the permit.
Douglas County treats a gas-to-electric conversion differently from a straight replacement. It needs additional documentation and a plan review, filed in person, by fax or by mail. We build that step into the schedule we give you.
No. Existing R-410A systems can legally be repaired. EPA rules affect new equipment. If repair is the sensible choice, that’s what we recommend.
After hours, our answering service takes your call and we call back the next business day. We’re open Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 3pm.
No. Our written guarantee says we will explain our findings, provide honest recommendations, and never pressure you into purchasing services or equipment you don’t need. You can approve an estimate later from a link, after you’ve compared.
